Role Overview

We seek a motivated Senior Structural Engineer to join our expanding Water Services team, focusing on the design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects for Uisce Éireann and other clients across Ireland. This role offers hybrid flexibility based in Dublin, Castlebar, Limerick, or Cork.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design of infrastructure including reinforced concrete tanks, pumping stations, treatment plant structures, stormwater attenuation systems, retaining walls, buried chambers, and steel-framed process buildings.
• Manage projects from feasibility and concept through detailed design and construction support.
• Prepare and review all design-related documentation including calculations, reports, specifications, drawings, and tender materials.
• Assess existing structural assets and develop rehabilitation or upgrade plans.
• Ensure compliance with Eurocodes, Irish Standards, Uisce Éireann requirements, and industry best practices.
• Coordinate cross-disciplinary design efforts among civil, mechanical, electrical, process, and geotechnical teams to ensure integrated solutions.
• Lead project delivery, manage multidisciplinary teams, develop schedules and resource plans, monitor budgets, and mitigate risks.
• Engage regularly with clients, contractors, regulators, and stakeholders, supporting procurement and contractor evaluation.
• Provide technical assistance during construction and commissioning, including site visits and design reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians, conduct technical reviews, ensure quality assurance, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
• Support business development activities such as bid preparation and proposal development.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status or near chartership (Engineers Ireland, ICE, IStructE, or equivalent).
• 8-10 years minimum relevant structural engineering experience.
• Proven history of executing water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Skilled in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and projects.
• Strong competencies in reinforced concrete and steel structural design.
• Experience collaborating with Uisce Éireann, local authorities, contractors, or water utility clients.
• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software tools.
• Sound knowledge of construction methods and buildability considerations.
• Excellent communication abilities, both oral and written.
• Valid driver’s license and readiness for site visits.

Preferred Skills

• Background in design-and-build or EPC contracts.
• Familiarity with BIM workflows and Common Data Environments.
• Experience with asset condition assessments and upgrades.
• Knowledge of NEC, Public Works Contracts, or FIDIC contracts.
• Competence in stakeholder engagement and maintaining client relationships.
