Role Summary

We invite an experienced Electrical Site Engineer to support a large-scale airport infrastructure project in Riyadh. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of electrical system shop drawings, installation, testing, and commissioning, ensuring alignment with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise shop drawings, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical infrastructure including power distribution networks, lighting systems, grounding and earthing schemes, LV/MV power distribution, backup power such as generators and UPS, as well as landside and airside lighting for airport operations.
  • Review detailed electrical design documents, calculations, specifications, and compliance reports to verify adherence to project requirements, international and local codes such as NEC, IEC, NFPA, IES, BS, TIA, UPTIME, and aviation-specific standards.
  • Assess data center and critical power electrical shop drawings related to UPS, generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS/STS), power distribution units (PDUs), grounding, and redundancy measures for mission-critical systems.
  • Coordinate with contractors and multidisciplinary teams to ensure electrical works progress according to project timelines.
  • Conduct site inspections, perform testing and quality assurance to confirm correct implementation of electrical systems.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges encountered during electrical works, providing value engineering recommendations.
  • Monitor overall project progress, identify risks, and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and submittals; review contractor documentation for approvals.
  • Support procurement processes by reviewing vendor submittals and approving materials.
  • Participate actively in meetings with clients and stakeholders to confirm project expectations are met.
  • Ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with mechanical, ICT, civil engineering components, and other airport-specific technologies.
  • Guarantee compliance of electrical systems with ICAO standards, FAA/EASA airfield lighting guidelines, IATA recommendations, IEC/IEEE standards, and local authority requirements.
  • Review contractor method statements and inspection and test plans (ITPs).
  • Engage in energization and Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) readiness activities.
  • Ensure thorough documentation is prepared and maintained for project handover.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in electrical engineering focusing on airport infrastructure, transportation, or extensive infrastructure projects.
  • Proven expertise with low voltage, medium voltage, and airport-specific electrical systems such as airfield lighting, ground power units (GPUs), and airfield ground lighting (AGL).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical codes and standards including NEC, IEC, NFPA, BS, IES, TIA, UPTIME, among others.
  • Practical experience with software tools such as ETAP, DIALux, AutoCAD, and Revit for shop drawing evaluations, electrical computations, and load analysis.
  • Experience collaborating with major consulting or engineering firms on large infrastructure ventures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities addressing design and construction obstacles.
  • Competence in multitasking and coordinating efforts across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Certifications like PMP, LEED or equivalents are beneficial but not mandatory.
