Role Overview

We are seeking an Intermediate Civil Engineer with over five years of experience to join our Auckland office. The role involves designing and consulting on infrastructure projects in New Zealand and Australia with a focus on underground infrastructure within a rapidly expanding, infrastructure-driven market.

Responsibilities

• Carry out civil infrastructure design focusing on three waters projects and transport tunnels, including stormwater and wastewater drainage, earthworks, site grading, surface reinstatement, and access road development.
• Produce civil design calculations, technical specifications, and construction drawings.
• Integrate contractor methodologies within design work.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers to solve complex design challenges.
• Draft technical reports and documentation detailing design rationale and recommendations.
• Supervise Digital Engineering technicians in accurately presenting plans, sections, and detailed drawings.
• Participate in quality assurance of calculations and designs before client submission.
• Support construction-phase efforts such as site inspections, reviewing contractor submissions, and responding to technical queries.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• At least five years experience in civil engineering.
• CPEng accreditation or actively pursuing chartership.
• Proficient in engineering calculations, design reports, specifications, and drawing preparation.
• Strong analytical problem-solving to develop practical and constructible solutions.
• Excellent written and oral communication capabilities.
• Effective teamwork skills for multidisciplinary project collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and conduct site inspections.
• Possession of a full New Zealand driver's license or eligibility to obtain one.

Preferred Experience

• Design and coordination experience in surface drainage and stormwater management.
• Experience with wastewater reticulation systems.
• Expertise in earthworks and site grading.
• Knowledge of access road construction, pavement design, and road corridor infrastructure.
• Familiarity with New Zealand design standards, council regulations, and infrastructure specifications.
• Working skills in Autodesk Civil 3D for design interrogation, sketching, updating designs, and coordinating with Digital Engineering staff.
