Role Overview

We are seeking a full-time Structural Engineering Draftsperson to join our Auckland-based office. This position focuses on creating detailed structural drawings and documentation required for residential and commercial projects. The role demands close cooperation with engineers to convert design concepts into comprehensive and clear technical plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and update shop drawings, structural layouts, and connection details in line with project requirements.
• Coordinate structural plans with architectural drawings ensuring consistency and compliance.
• Ensure all drawings comply with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
• Maintain organized records of all drawing packages and revisions.
• Assist with building information modeling processes and tools to contribute to integrated project models.
• Respond promptly to queries related to drawings and incorporate feedback following reviews.

Qualifications and Skills

• Competence in structural drafting including fundamentals of structural engineering, and production of structural details and layouts.
• Knowledge of structural and geotechnical engineering principles is advantageous.
• Carry out geotechnical site investigations as part of project requirements.
• Proficiency in technical and shop drawings producing accurate and buildable construction documentation.
• Experience integrating architectural drawings into structural plans and coordination across disciplines.
• Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) techniques, software, and workflows.
• Skilled in using CAD and/or BIM software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalents.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple drawing packages under tight deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with engineers, architects, and construction teams.
• Relevant educational background in drafting, engineering technology, or structural engineering, ideally holding a diploma or degree.
• Prior experience in a drafting role within the construction or engineering sector is required.
