Electrical BIM Engineer

About the Role

MTEC Electromechanical Works LLC seeks an experienced Electrical BIM Engineer to develop, coordinate, and manage electrical BIM models and construction deliverables. The role emphasizes ensuring spatial coordination, maintaining high-quality information, and aligning output with project BIM standards and engineering approvals.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and update electrical BIM models including power, lighting, containment, earthing, fire alarm, and ELV elements according to project Level of Development (LOD) and Level of Information (LOI).
• Translate approved design and shop drawing data into coordinated BIM models, keeping models aligned with current revision versions.
• Conduct multidisciplinary clash detection using Navisworks or similar coordination software, managing clash resolution with mechanical, architectural, and structural disciplines.
• Generate coordinated documentation including plans, sections, details, openings, schedules, and model-based drawings for technical approvals and site application.
• Participate in BIM coordination meetings while maintaining clash and action registers, tracking issues, and handling model federation tasks.
• Implement BIM Execution Plan mandates such as naming conventions, coordinate systems, model segmentation, worksets, data parameters, and Common Data Environment (CDE) workflows.
• Coordinate electrical equipment layouts, cable routing, containment zones, ceiling services, and access/maintenance needs with other engineering disciplines.
• Assist with quantity takeoff and model-based reporting, provide support to site teams for model coordination, and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Revise models based on approved changes and aid in producing precise as-built or record models for project handover.
• Perform quality assurance checks on models and contribute to standardizing BIM families, templates, and electrical modeling methodologies.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• At least seven years of practical experience in electrical BIM and MEP coordination within construction projects.
• Proficient with Autodesk Revit MEP and Navisworks Manage; skilled in AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with BIM 360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud, CDE workflows, and clash management processes is desirable.
• Comprehensive understanding of electrical systems and construction coordination principles beyond mere BIM modeling.
• Experience working on high-rise, residential, hospitality, or large building projects preferably within UAE or wider GCC region.
• Knowledge of BIM standards, including LOD, LOI, and ISO 19650 guidelines, is a plus.
