Computer Aided Design Engineer

Role Overview

A leading global company in semiconductor innovation is seeking a seasoned Staff CAD Engineer to join its Graphics division. This role involves contributing to the creation of next-gen GPU technology by designing advanced silicon chips with a focus on optimizing power, performance, and area (PPA) in cutting-edge GPU cores.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with microarchitecture, design, and implementation teams to enhance the full ASIC development lifecycle.
• Apply comprehensive knowledge of RTL design and the ASIC process from RTL through to GDSII, encompassing synthesis, timing analysis, verification, physical design, and ECO processes.
• Develop and refine semi-custom design flows and innovative methodologies to improve existing procedures.
• Manage design constraints related to power, timing, clocking, and interfaces to meet PPA targets.
• Utilize formal verification techniques and clock tree optimization methods.
• Implement ECO strategies to resolve functional and timing issues effectively.

Desired Experience

• Implementation and delivery of GPU cores from RTL to GDSII layout.
• Proficiency in Verilog and SystemVerilog coding.
• Experience with physically aware RTL synthesis tools.
• Hands-on use of EDA tools including Synopsys Fusion Compiler, RTL Architect, PrimePower, PrimeTime, and Prime Closure.
• Capability in scripting with UNIX Shell, Python, Perl, and/or TCL.
• A track record of identifying workflow improvements that enhance PPA.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in methodology development geared toward PPA enhancement.
• Strong foundation in digital design and RTL development techniques.
• Excellent analytical thinking and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to work independently and in teams.
• Motivated, collaborative work ethic with a dedication to delivering high-quality results aligned with customer needs.

Educational Background

• Essential: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
