Senior Structural Engineer

About the Role

A reputable engineering firm in Christchurch is seeking a seasoned Senior Structural Engineer to join their expanding team. This position offers a chance for an experienced professional to swiftly contribute to project delivery, provide technical guidance, mentor junior engineers, and significantly influence client relations and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle of complex structural engineering projects, from design inception through to construction completion.
• Seamlessly integrate into ongoing projects, establish trust with clients and teams, and take responsibility for critical delivery components.
• Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams including engineers and technicians.
• Exhibit strong commercial insight and effective project management skills.

Technical Leadership

• Hold Chartered Professional Engineer status (CPEng) with at least 6 years recognized experience.
• Demonstrate expertise in commercial, industrial, and infrastructure structural projects.
• Experience with civil structures is highly desirable.
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews, mentoring, and engineering approvals.
• Approach challenges innovatively with a readiness to question traditional methods and seek new solutions.

Business Development & Client Relations

• Ability to foster and maintain trusted client relationships, driving repeat engagements.
• Maintain an existing professional network and a history of securing new business opportunities.
• Represent the firm professionally to clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Contribute actively to long-term strategic growth, including developing future client bases and work streams.
