Team Overview

The Planning team in our Athenry manufacturing facility is pivotal to executing production plans by converting customer demand into actionable schedules. Collaborating closely with departments such as Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics, Quality, Engineering, and Global Supply Chain, this team ensures alignment in demand forecasting, capacity planning, inventory management, and supply, supporting operational excellence and site growth.

Role Summary

As Planning Manager, you will lead and guide the Athenry Planning team to synchronize manufacturing output with customer demand, capacity, material availability, and corporate goals. You will govern the Master Production Schedule (MPS), facilitate Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE), and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes, striving to meet production commitments and deliver life-changing products worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Planning team to support current operations and future expansion.
• Manage and oversee the site’s Master Production Schedule process.
• Ensure synchronization between demand forecasts, manufacturing capacity, supply capabilities, and inventory policies.
• Develop, consolidate, communicate, and execute comprehensive production and supply plans.
• Act as the primary planning liaison for site S&OP, S&OE, and IBP initiatives.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and Global Supply Chain teams.
• Implement and maintain finite and rough-cut capacity planning to aid operational decisions.
• Advance planning process maturity while enforcing compliance with established standards and governance.
• Identify planning risks, constraints and devise mitigation strategies to safeguard customer service levels and production schedules.
• Support new product launches, site transfers, commercial introductions, and supply chain transformations.
• Lead optimization of inventory across raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods, ensuring service objectives are met.
• Create and analyze planning metrics and dashboards for continuous improvement.
• Maintain ERP and planning system data integrity, enforce parameter governance, and ensure adherence to scheduling disciplines.
• Manage escalations related to shortages, capacity limitations, demand shifts, and supply disruptions.
• Drive adoption of best-in-class planning methodologies and foster continuous improvements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
• 8-12 years of relevant industry experience, including 2-5 years in management or leadership roles.
• Proven experience managing planning functions within manufacturing settings.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and planning tools.
• Solid knowledge of Master Production Scheduling, Capacity Planning, S&OP, Inventory Management, and Demand & Supply Planning principles.
• Advanced analytical skills, including strong Excel capabilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in regulated sectors such as Medical Device or Pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Familiarity with Oracle Fusion Planning or Oracle Supply Planning software.
• Background implementing Integrated Business Planning processes.
• APICS / ASCM certifications (CPIM, CSCP or equivalent) and Lean Six Sigma certification.
• Experience in scaling manufacturing operations or greenfield projects.
• History of leading planning transformation initiatives.

Annual base salary ranges from €85,170 to €110,220 gross, determined by qualifications and experience.
