Job Overview
James L Williams Middle East is looking to hire a skilled and proactive Planning Engineer to join their planning team. The role supports the timely and effective execution of major Data Centre construction projects in Saudi Arabia.
Key Responsibilities
- Construct and revise Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) project schedules ensuring alignment with the Main Contractor’s overarching programme.
- Apply resource and cost loading techniques to project timelines.
- Create and maintain formats for tracking and reporting site progress derived from project plans, drawings, and Bills of Quantities.
- Monitor daily progress on-site and communicate status updates to Project and Planning Managers.
- Develop detailed micro-programmes based on project priorities and urgent requirements.
- Compile weekly reports addressing material and drawing approvals, construction activities, and commissioning progress.
- Document and follow up on project delays, including those caused by other contractors on site.
- Deliver comprehensive fortnightly and monthly progress reports comparing actual accomplishments to approved schedules.
- Assist Project Director and Planning Manager in issuing delay notices in line with subcontract agreements.
- Collaborate in preparing and submitting baseline programmes and Extension of Time claims to ensure project schedules remain valid.
- Maintain punctual and precise reporting on MEP activities to facilitate effective planning and project delivery.
Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in planning for construction, Data Centre, or MEP projects.
- Proficient in Primavera scheduling software.
- Experienced in project scheduling, monitoring progress, resource and cost loading, and generating planning reports.
- Well-versed in baseline programme management, delay tracking, and Extension of Time procedures.
- Strong skills in planning programme creation and execution.
- Excellent analytical abilities to detect project challenges and suggest effective solutions.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Competent with computers and relevant planning and software tools.
