Job Summary

The Floor Care Associate ensures the maintenance of a clean, sanitary, and safe environment by managing floor surfaces and restrooms with proper care. This role supports customer confidence and loyalty through consistent adherence to operational and safety standards. It promotes inclusivity by respecting the diverse backgrounds and experiences of team members.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of sales floor, liquor store, offices, breakrooms, backrooms, training rooms, and restrooms (approximately 70% of time).
  • Operate floor care equipment and utilize associated tools and chemicals for cleaning tasks.
  • Sweep and vacuum mats and rugs, repositioning them correctly.
  • Remove stains from carpets and manage trash disposal; perform thorough restroom cleaning.
  • Create a welcoming environment to encourage customer appreciation and loyalty by meeting cleanliness expectations and assisting customers in locating or suggesting products (about 15% of time).
  • Ensure compliance with safety, food handling, and sanitation policies, following USDA, COOL, and DOA regulations.
  • Execute product recalls and withdrawals promptly, securing and removing affected items from customer reach.
  • Support company safety programs by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions, accidents, risks, or illegal activities to management.
  • Adhere to wage and hour policies, cultivate a safety-first culture, and ensure associates are trained and equipped with appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure equipment functionality and assist with hazard remediation, including lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age requirement: 18 years.
  • Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain authorization.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Strong customer service ability with exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • English language required; Spanish language skills preferred.
  • 0 to 3 years of relevant experience preferred; supervisory experience a plus.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, use of manual dexterity, talking, seeing, hearing, smelling, and repetitive motions involving hands and/or feet.
  • Occasional sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing up to 30 feet.
  • Exposure to varied indoor/outdoor, cold, heated, wet/humid conditions, and safety hazards such as slippery floors, hazardous equipment, sharp objects, loud noises, irritants, dust, fumes, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Regular use of cleaning supplies, general office equipment, registers, pricing tools, scanners, and material handling equipment (e.g., racks, carts, pallet jacks, shopping carts); experience with balers/compactors and box cutters preferred.
  • Personal protective equipment includes goggles, gloves, and back braces.
  • Capability to pull loads up to 250 lbs and lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Schedule and Travel

This position involves varied shifts. Travel is occasional with no overnight stays expected.
