Floor Care Associate

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain orderliness and safety on sales floors, liquor stores, offices, breakrooms, backrooms, and restrooms by periodically cleaning and removing hazards.
• Operate floor care machinery and use related tools and chemicals effectively.
• Sweep, vacuum mats and rugs, restore them to their designated places, and remove carpet stains.
• Dispose of waste properly and perform thorough restroom cleaning.
• Create a welcoming atmosphere for customers to build and maintain their confidence and loyalty.
• Meet company standards for cleanliness and sanitation daily.
• Assist customers in locating or suggesting products as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, proper food handling procedures, and sanitation protocols.
• Adhere to regulatory standards including USDA, Country of Origin Labeling (COOL), and Department of Agriculture requirements.
• Execute product recalls promptly and safeguard customers by removing affected items.
• Support safety programs by following procedures, reporting hazards, accidents, and illegal activities to management.
• Ensure workforce compliance with wage and hour policies and cultivate a strong safety culture within the store.
• Confirm availability and use of personal protective equipment while maintaining equipment in safe working order.
• Report and assist in resolving departmental safety hazards, including equipment lockout/tagout instances.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Authorization to work legally in the United States or ability to obtain such authorization.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
• Ability to speak English; Spanish language skills are an added advantage.
• Experience range from none up to three years; supervisory experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Regular standing or walking on different floor types; manual dexterity; use of hands and feet in repetitive motions.
• Carrying, pushing, or lifting objects up to specified weight limits (lifting up to 50 lbs, pulling up to 250 lbs).
• Occasional sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing up to 30 feet.
• Working indoors and outdoors in varying climatic conditions, including cold, heat, wetness, or humidity.
• Exposure to noise, irritants, dust, fumes, toxic cleaning agents, and sharp objects.
• Used equipment includes cleaning supplies, office technology, pricing and scanning devices, and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and carts; balers and box cutters are preferred tools.
• Required to use protective gear like goggles, gloves, and back braces during tasks.

Additional Information

• Occasional travel but no overnight stays.
• Shift timings vary.
