Job description

Overview

USIC is a national leader specializing in underground utility safety and damage prevention, conducting over 84 million underground utility locates annually for a wide range of utility sectors including telecommunications, electric, gas, water, and sewer systems. We seek dedicated individuals passionate about public safety and independent outdoor field work to join our workforce in Cody, WY.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately and safely identify and mark underground utilities such as telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer lines.
  • Conduct comprehensive underground utility searches within assigned areas, document findings thoroughly, and capture photographic evidence of the locate site.

Work Schedule and Conditions

This role primarily involves daytime hours and requires flexibility to work overtime, weekend shifts, and be on-call during nights and holidays as operational needs dictate. We typically maintain a 48-hour turnaround time on locates, necessitating work following holidays and occasionally on weekends.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions; outdoor experience is advantageous.
  • Technologically adept and able to operate company-provided equipment including phones and vehicles equipped with advanced technology.
  • Available for extra hours, weekend, and on-call duty as necessary.
  • Capable of passing a drug screening due to the safety-sensitive nature of the position.
  • Hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Physically fit to work in confined spaces, walk extensively, bend, and lift items up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to discern color coding used in utility markings and wiring.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting locate tickets, maps, and blueprints.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with team members, clients, contractors, and property owners.
