Job Overview
USIC is actively seeking motivated individuals for the position of Utility Locator based in Mequon, WI. This on-site, full-time role offers a starting pay of $20 an hour, with prospects of incremental increases up to 5% at intervals of four, eight, and twelve months. No prior experience in utility locating is required as a comprehensive training program will be provided, although those with experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
- Identify and safely locate various underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
- Conduct thorough searches within assigned areas, accurately mark utility locations, complete related documentation, and capture photographic evidence of each locate.
- Operate independently in the field using a company-provided vehicle and advanced ticket and claims management technology.
- Adhere to a 48-hour turnaround time for locates, necessitating work on some holidays, weekends, overtime, and on-call shifts.
Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions; outdoor experience is advantageous.
- Comfortable using technology effectively during work duties.
- Availability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as business needs dictate.
- Pass a drug screening exam (safety-sensitive role).
- Hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Physical capability to work in confined spaces, walk, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs.
- Color vision sufficient to distinguish wiring indicators for utility marking.
- Skills to read and interpret locate tickets, maps, and prints.
- Good communication skills for interacting with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
