Job Overview
USIC, America's leading underground utility damage prevention company, seeks dedicated Utility Locators to perform accurate and safe underground utility identification work in Bellevue, WA. This role involves independent fieldwork with a company-provided vehicle, ensuring critical infrastructure is correctly marked to prevent utility damage.
Compensation
The hourly wage starts at $23.00 for new locators and can increase up to $32.00 for those with substantial prior experience.
Responsibilities
- Precisely locate underground utilities such as telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Conduct thorough searches within assigned areas, mark locations of utilities, complete all required documentation accurately, and photograph each locate.
- Work under a 48-hour turnaround policy, including regular daytime shifts after holidays, occasional weekends, overtime, and on-call duties, which may include night or weekend hours.
Requirements
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions; prior outdoor work experience advantageous.
- Competent with technology and ability to use advanced locating equipment and management systems.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as business needs dictate.
- Must pass drug screening due to safety-sensitive nature of the position.
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Physically able to work in confined spaces, walk, bend frequently, and lift up to 75 pounds.
- Able to distinguish colors used for wiring and marking underground utilities.
- Capable of interpreting locate tickets, maps, and prints accurately.
- Effective communication skills to interact clearly with coworkers, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
