Structures Inspector - Strategic Highways Operation & Maintenance

Role Summary

The position of Structures Inspector focuses on overseeing bridges and highway structures in Doha, Qatar for a long-term strategic highways project. The incumbent will ensure and uphold safety, structural integrity, and operational standards per contractual SLAs and KPIs. The scope covers various structural assets such as bridges, flyovers, tunnels, monuments, culverts, and more.

Key Duties

• Adhere strictly to contract requirements ensuring inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance meet all SLAs and KPIs, effectively preventing quality failures.
• Utilize the Asset Management System (MAXIMO) precisely to manage and close Work Orders and Service Requests efficiently.
• Maintain comprehensive use of the Bridge Management System (BMS) for inventory accuracy, condition monitoring, inspection reporting, and performance documentation.
• Conduct thorough inspections to evaluate structural conditions, determine deterioration rates, and identify safety or structural risks.
• Perform multiple inspection types including safety, general, principal, and special inspections while ensuring accurate reporting and actionable maintenance recommendations.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to optimize network-wide maintenance and operations.
• Ensure all inspection, maintenance, and assessment activities abide by relevant Qatar standards, primarily based on UK codes.
• Contribute expertise towards the advancement of bridge inspection technologies, maintenance methodologies, and asset management innovations.

Candidate Profile

• A bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or demonstrable equivalent experience in highway structures inspection, particularly within Qatar or the Middle East region.
• Demonstrated experience with bridge and highway structures operation and maintenance contracts.
• Strong knowledge of structural behaviors and deterioration processes in reinforced concrete, steel, composite, and prestressed structures.
• Familiarity with bridge asset management principles, condition assessment techniques, and lifecycle management.
• Experience with Enterprise Asset Management platforms, preferably MAXIMO, and Bridge Management Systems such as BMS.
• Competency in structural analysis, load rating, and assessing existing infrastructure.
• Understanding of maintenance and assessment standards including UK Inspection Manual, UK DMRB, Qatar QRMM, and others.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities to analyze data and develop risk-based inspection schedules.
• Meticulous attention to detail capable of managing numerous inspections and delivering accurate results consistently.
• Strong communication skills for technical report preparation and effective stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel regularly within Qatar for site inspections and maintenance operations.
