Job description
Role Overview
Join the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand as a Flight Operations Inspector to apply your expert knowledge across complex aviation operations. This permanent position is based in Wellington, Auckland Airport, or Christchurch Airport, involving multifaceted work in certification, safety, and oversight to enhance aviation safety continuously.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage certification processes for Helicopter and Agricultural Organisations, including new certifications and re-certifications.
- Engage with operators to promote safety and operational best practices within New Zealand's aviation system.
- Contribute to various aviation safety tasks such as risk management, technical documentation, flight testing, and simulator approvals.
- Exercise sound judgment within an established regulatory framework to ensure compliance and safety.
- Regularly travel across New Zealand and occasionally overseas to collaborate directly with aviation organisations.
Candidate Profile and Experience
- Hold or have held a minimum Commercial Pilot Licence (Helicopter) with experience in air transport operations under Part 119/135 and/or 137.
- Preferred qualifications and experiences include an Agricultural Rating, Flight Examiner or instructor background, NVIS Rating, Instrument Flight Rules and PBN qualifications.
- Familiarity or experience in helicopter flight operations, training management, and Safety Management Systems is highly desirable.
- Additional aviation or relevant tertiary qualifications will be considered beneficial.
