Staff Layout Engineer

About the Role

Qualcomm India Private Limited is looking for a Staff Layout Engineer to join the Engineering Services Group. The role involves developing block, macro, or chip level layouts and floorplans based on project requirements, specifications, and design schematics. The engineer will apply knowledge of design manuals, standardized processes, layout elements, and fundamental electronics principles to produce precise designs that fulfill project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Create layouts at block, macro, or chip levels in accordance with provided schematics and specifications.
• Perform design analysis, testing, and thorough verification using various tools and techniques.
• Investigate and resolve design or layout issues through detailed troubleshooting.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure project alignment and timely updates.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Electronic Engineering, or a related area plus at least 4 years of relevant custom layout design experience in domains such as analog, mixed signal, RF, or digital design; or
• Hold an Associate's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable discipline with more than 6 years of relevant custom layout design experience; or
• Have a High School diploma (or equivalent) with over 8 years of relevant custom layout experience in the specified domains.
• Experience of 8+ years specifically in Custom Analog Layouts is required.
• A minimum of 8 years’ experience working on SerDes blocks including PLL, Tx, and Rx is essential.
• Prior experience with FinFET technology is mandatory.
• Proficiency using layout design and verification tools such as Cadence, LVS, and rmap is required, including skills in Cadence scripting and the Totem ESD flow as advantageous specialties.
• Advanced degrees in related fields may count toward up to two years’ reduction in work experience requirements.
• A positive attitude and strong team collaboration skills are valued attributes.
