Role Summary

This role demands substantial expertise in computer science, combinatorial optimization, and scalable software architecture. You will spearhead the creation of cutting-edge CAD technologies, design methodologies, and automation solutions supporting sophisticated semiconductor manufacturing nodes (3nm and below). Functioning in a collaborative setting that merges hardware, software, and algorithmic discipline, you will pioneer solutions addressing extensive microelectronic design challenges leveraging data-centric strategies and advanced optimization methods.

Innovation and Leadership

Innovation is integral to this position. Situated at the convergence of electronic design automation (EDA), AI, data analytics, and software engineering, this role requires identifying nascent prospects, steering technical direction, and converting research ideas into market-ready implementations. Expertise in constraint reasoning, mathematical optimization, and algorithm development, alongside demonstrated success in building scalable software architectures, fostering engineering best practices, and cross-location collaboration, is essential.

Technical Responsibilities

You will design and implement sophisticated automated reasoning frameworks to tackle intricate VLSI design problems utilizing AI, constraint programming, SAT solving, integer programming, and metaheuristics. Additionally, you'll guide technical mentorship, architectural choices, roadmap planning, and propagate innovative methodologies enhancing productivity, software quality, and scalability across Qualcomm's design infrastructure.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in automated reasoning, AI optimization, constraint solving, or operations research with a successful history of delivering state-of-the-art solutions to complex problems.
• Strong background in graph theory, combinatorial optimization, advanced data structures, and algorithms applicable on a large scale for engineering challenges.
• Proven capability in architecting next-generation constraint reasoning and optimization frameworks yielding improved scalability, performance, and solution excellence.
• Experience delivering high-performance, production-grade software systems, incorporating engineering best practices related to software architecture, testing, code quality, CI/CD, observability, and documentation.
• Expert coding skills in Python, including technology direction and mentoring capabilities to promote modern software development practices.
• Demonstrated success in leading technical projects that span multiple organizational teams, influencing roadmaps, stakeholder alignment, and execution.
• Ability to map complex EDA or semiconductor design requirements into scalable algorithmic and software solutions.
• Track record of mentoring engineers to raise the organization’s technical standards through coaching and leadership activities.
• Effective communication and management of stakeholders ranging from engineers to executive leadership.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline; PhD preferred.
• Recognized research contributions including publications, patents, or notable industry innovations.
• Experience with data science techniques and visualization tools for handling large-scale problems.
• Familiarity with C/C++ object-oriented programming and/or experience in Synthesis, Physical Design Flows, or CAD tool development.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or related fields with 4+ years of ASIC design or related experience, OR
• Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, OR
• PhD with 2+ years of relevant experience
