About the Role
At Pushpay, we are pioneering beyond the experimental AI wrappers seen at many firms by crafting production-grade agentic platforms that power our entire engineering workflow in software creation, deployment, and operation. As a Staff AI Platform Engineer, you will have broad autonomy to design, operate, and scale internal agentic platforms including developer-oriented tools like PR review agents, software development lifecycle (SDLC) copilots, and context engines. You will be accountable not only for building but also for the operational integrity, cost management, evaluation methodologies, and production reliability of these systems, effectively multiplying engineer productivity across the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement agentic systems, utilizing tools and frameworks such as Claude Agent SDK, AWS Bedrock, and LangGraph to fashion supervisor loops, routing patterns, and state machines.
- Manage operational workloads at scale by defining service level objectives (SLOs) for agent accuracy, responsiveness, and token usage; lead observability efforts through tracing and incident management mechanisms to address agent misbehavior or hallucinations.
- Enhance the developer experience by detecting and alleviating bottlenecks in the SDLC, optimizing build and continuous integration processes, improving local development environments including LocalStack and .NET Aspire, and tuning AWS serverless architectures focusing on Lambda cold-starts and SnapStart.
- Advance AI safety and quality standards by architecting reusable component models, context retrieval systems based on retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and implementing guardrails to ensure graceful degradation of autonomous systems.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 8 years in software engineering with substantial leadership experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, or developer experience domains.
- Hands-on production experience managing non-deterministic large language model (LLM) or agentic workloads, including cost governance, telemetry, and evaluation pipelines beyond mere prototype development.
- Strong backend development expertise using C# or Python and deep familiarity with AWS cloud-native services including Lambda, API Gateway, Bedrock, IAM, and KMS.
- Demonstrated ability to influence engineering teams by fostering adoption of technical tools and standards through collaboration, mentorship, and effective communication rather than authoritative mandates.
