Software Engineer II - Java / Spring / AWS

Job Overview

We are looking for a motivated Software Engineer II to join JPMorgan Chase's Corporate & Investment Bank Real-Time Payments team in Singapore. This role involves full lifecycle software engineering, including designing, coding, testing, and deploying high-quality real-time payment solutions while ensuring system resiliency and operational excellence in a mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and troubleshoot standard software solutions with limited supervision.
• Create secure, well-structured code in at least one programming language, utilizing enterprise-approved AI tools to speed delivery and enhance quality while validating outputs rigorously.
• Design and develop applications considering upstream/downstream system dependencies and technical impacts.
• Utilize SDLC toolchains with AI-assisted automation to maximize development efficiency.
• Analyze large, diverse datasets to identify issues and support secure and stable application development.
• Apply system and process knowledge to produce safe, resilient code and functionality.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or related fields.
• At least 2 years of formal experience or certification in software engineering.
• Practical expertise in system design, application development, testing, and maintaining operational stability.
• Experience with modern programming and database querying languages in a corporate environment.
• Proficient in using enterprise-authorized AI-based software development tools, capable of evaluating AI outputs critically.
• Understanding responsible AI application within engineering workflows, including data security and resiliency measures.
• Broad knowledge of all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Familiarity with agile practices such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), application resiliency, and security.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Hands-on experience developing with Java and Spring Boot/Core, including building REST APIs and integrating with other systems.
• Knowledge or willingness to work on React UI components and experience with automated testing using JUnit.
• Exposure to event-driven architectures such as message queuing (MQ) or Kafka and distributed system principles (retries, idempotency).
• Experience with caching technologies like Redis or GemFire and performance-conscious coding.
• Familiarity with Agile tools like Jira and Confluence.
• Basic cloud platform exposure (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform), with hands-on experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong engineering principles including clean coding, code reviews, debugging, and effective written communication.
• Experience in payments or regulated financial environments emphasizing high availability and low latency.
• Experience managing production services, including incident response and operational monitoring.
• Knowledge of secure Software Development Life Cycle practices such as vulnerability management and dependency hygiene.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM-enabled development workflows responsibly enhancing productivity (coding assistance, test generation, documentation).
