Java Backend Engineer

Position Overview

We seek an experienced Java Backend Engineer proficient in Java programming and object-oriented paradigms, with specialized knowledge in Apache Flink and AWS services like EKS and S3. The role revolves around extensive file processing, demanding excellence in high-performance backend services.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and sustain efficient Java backend services tailored for large-scale environments.
• Develop complex file processing and streaming/batch pipelines leveraging Apache Flink on AWS, handling massive files on VSIs and Amazon S3.
• Implement Kubernetes-based deployment following cloud-native design principles, ensuring fault-tolerant, high-availability, and share-nothing multi-region system architecture.
• Create secure, scalable, well-versioned, and well-documented REST APIs with robust error management.
• Integrate and operate dynamic microservice discovery mechanisms through service registries.
• Utilize AI-powered development tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude to expedite development cycles and enhance code quality.

Required Skills and Expertise

• Advanced proficiency in Java and strong object-oriented design capabilities.
• Demonstrated experience in creating custom frameworks and reusable software components.
• Expertise in handling and processing files on VSIs and Amazon S3 at scale.
• Practical knowledge of Apache Flink is preferred.
• Familiarity with messaging and streaming systems such as MQ or Kafka.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes management and cloud-native app development.
• Understanding of AWS services, particularly EKS and S3, is advantageous.
• Experience designing distributed multi-region architectures for resiliency and disaster recovery.
• Competency with Agile methodologies and team autonomy.
