This expansion drives the need to hire an Intermediate Software Engineer to join their Java engineering team based in Albany.

Role Overview

The engineer will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end delivery of backend features, focusing on secure, scalable, and testable designs from the outset.

• Develop and enhance microservices and RESTful APIs within a cloud-native, event-driven SaaS platform.
• Break down engineering tasks by distinguishing those suitable for AI agents versus those requiring human expertise.
• Review and rectify AI-generated code prior to integration, preventing production issues.
• Create automated testing suites encompassing unit, component, and integration tests.
• Participate in on-call rotations according to company policy.
• Collaborate within an engineering team reporting to the Chapter Lead.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrable backend experience using Java in production environments.
• Practical experience working alongside AI coding tools, including reviewing and adjusting AI-generated code before merging.
• Preferably AWS experience within a Java and Spring technology stack, although deep Java expertise with other cloud-native platforms is acceptable.
• Familiarity with microservice architectures and RESTful API design principles.
• Experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server databases.
• Capability in designing and implementing tests at unit, component, and integration levels.
• Proficient with Git workflows, particularly trunk-based development and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Docker and containerization technologies.
• Basic knowledge of system monitoring, alerting, and observability tools.
