About the Role

As a Senior Software Solution Architect, you will have a key role in shaping the future of air traffic management (ATM) by designing scalable and robust distributed software architectures. You will lead engineering teams, influencing the adoption of best practices and driving technological innovation to ensure safety and efficiency in air travel systems.

This position offers an initial 6-8 week comprehensive learning program at Thales AMS Headquarters in Singapore, aimed at equipping you with domain knowledge and operational lifecycle expertise relevant to ATM, preparing you to make immediate impactful contributions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable distributed software systems tailored for air traffic management fulfilling both business and operational needs.
• Lead technical teams through all phases of software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to best coding, testing, and deployment standards.
• Assess and adopt modern tools, frameworks, and methodologies enhancing system performance and reliability.
• Mentor junior architects and developers encouraging a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and operation units to align technology strategies with business objectives.
• Oversee integration and verification activities including incorporating third-party tools, components, and legacy systems.
• Produce and maintain detailed architectural documentation, design specifications, and system diagrams.

Qualifications and Experience

• A relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree.
• Proficient in Java Core, Java Swing, JavaFX, and JUnit.
• Experience with IDEs and version control tools such as Eclipse, GIT, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and JIRA.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems including microservices, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, continuous integration and delivery, containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proven problem-solving skills focused on building solutions for mission-critical systems balancing technical debt and business demands.
• Effective communication capabilities to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Experience with formal software engineering processes across the software lifecycle.
• Competence in writing and reviewing design documents, requirements, test plans, and code.
• Knowledge of testing and debugging strategies, including blackbox and whitebox testing.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies, specifically Scrum, and embedding a DevOps culture.
• Domain expertise or experience in Air Traffic Management is essential.
• Preferred qualifications include TOGAF certification, familiarity with safety-critical software standards (DO-278/DO-178), and prior exposure to safety-critical software development environments.
