We are currently looking for an experienced DevOps engineer focused on Kubernetes technology to join the OpenSky team. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining container orchestration platforms supporting the next generation of Air Traffic Management Systems. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of Kubernetes internals, automation, and monitoring to enable safe, reliable, and scalable application delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and operate Kubernetes clusters deployed in Azure cloud and on-premises environments, including deployment, upgrades, and lifecycle management with tools such as Cluster API and kubeadm.
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities for Kubernetes workloads.
• Create and manage workload deployment automation utilizing Helm charts, kustomize overlays, and GitOps pipelines (e.g., ArgoCD, FluxCD).
• Develop and refine CI/CD pipelines integrating seamlessly with Kubernetes environments.
• Configure Kubernetes networking using CNI plugins like Cilium, Calico, and Multus; implement Ingress controllers, service meshes (Istio, Linkerd), and API gateways.
• Apply security best practices, including RBAC, Pod Security Standards, network policies, and secret management tools like Vault and Sealed Secrets.
• Implement observability practices involving monitoring, logging, and alerting using Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and OpenTelemetry.
• Perform performance tuning and capacity planning for clusters and workloads; establish SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Provision Kubernetes clusters and their infrastructure via Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform/OpenTofu and Pulumi, manage configuration drift through GitOps, automate upgrades, patching, and compliance enforcement.
• Collaborate closely with developers to design cloud-native applications aligning with Kubernetes best practices and support Agile Release Trains and DevSecOps culture by promoting self-service platforms.
• Mentor and guide engineering peers on Kubernetes technologies across the organization.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or recognized engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years’ practical experience working with Kubernetes in production settings.
• Strong expertise in containerization technologies including Docker and OCI images, along with container image registries.
• Experience working with cloud service providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or managing hybrid Kubernetes environments.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Helm, and ArgoCD.
• Sound understanding of Linux operating systems, networking principles, and security concepts.
• Additional qualifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKSS), or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) are advantageous.
• Familiarity with service mesh technologies like Istio, Linkerd, or Consul.
• Knowledge of multi-cluster, multi-tenant, or edge Kubernetes deployment strategies, as well as awareness of FinOps and cost optimization for Kubernetes workloads, is beneficial.
• Demonstrated learning agility, adaptability, and proactive attitude.
• Comfortable working in agile teams with active user engagement.
