Senior Planner

Overview

AtkinsRéalis, a globally recognized provider of engineering consultancy and professional support services operating across Ireland, is actively recruiting a Senior Planner to strengthen its Transportation division.

Role Responsibilities

• Develop, monitor, and update project schedules utilizing Primavera P6 and MS Project software.
• Create forecasts and monitor progress through cost and resource-loaded programmes while delivering reports and dashboards to project teams.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks or constraints, ensuring key project milestones are met punctually.
• Assist with preparing and maintaining project timelines aligned with NEC contract requirements for scheduling and updates.
• Generate progress reports, forecasts, and executive dashboards for clients and management.
• Present clear updates and analyses regarding programme scenarios, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership and clients.
• Oversee baseline management to support contractual and performance assessments.
• Lead meetings and workshops that critically assess project progress and performance.
• Support risk management activities including early warning notifications, compensation event evaluations, and adherence to NEC contract processes.
• Manage the scheduling obligations stipulated by contracts.
• Assist Discipline Leads in maintaining and integrating schedules and their interfaces.
• Spot scheduling risks and collaborate with team members to prevent delays.
• Deliver advanced hierarchical reporting such as Earned Value Management (EVM).
• Understand integration relating to schedule, cost, and risk.
• Conduct critical path evaluations and scenario planning to mitigate project challenges and enhance efficiency.
• Apply expertise in a range of delay analysis techniques and perform industry-standard schedule quality assessments.

Candidate Profile

• Degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Proficient or familiar with Primavera P6 and MS Project.
• Basic knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.
• Awareness of Irish contract forms such as GCC and FIDIC.
• Strong analytical skills paired with effective communication abilities.
• Experience in civil engineering, infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects.
• Rail industry experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Background working in client-side project environments.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
