Quality Assurance Quality Control Engineer

About the Role

The Quality Assurance Quality Control (QA/QC) Engineer is responsible for ensuring that projects are completed adhering to proper work practices and project specifications, guaranteeing timely delivery with exceptional quality that matches or surpasses client expectations. This role involves implementing international quality standards and procedures across all construction activities and aiding in the development of the Project Quality Management System by creating necessary procedures, plans, and work instructions.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Project QA/QC Manager or Senior QA/QC Engineer in executing the quality management system on-site according to the approved Project Quality Plan and IMS procedures.
• Generate work inspection requests (WIR) for each construction activity and submit them to the consultant to ensure comprehensive coverage of all on-site activities.
• Inspect incoming materials to ensure compliance with project specifications and approved submittals.
• Track WIRs and test reports, keeping the Quality Manager and site teams updated on progress.
• Set up and oversee QA/QC Plans, Method Statements, and Test Plans prior to and during project execution to satisfy quality requirements and client expectations.
• Ensure the proper implementation of document control procedures and distribution of consultant-approved documents.
• Review Inspection and Test Plans, method statements, and test plan submissions for consultant approval in line with the ITP plan.
• Confirm that work inspections are conducted as scheduled, provide guidance on corrective actions to prevent rejection, aiming for a 90% pass rate on first submissions.
• Conduct internal material inspections before consultants' inspection; raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for substandard deliveries, and document inspections in monthly quality reports.
• Maintain detailed records of all inspections and material checks, reporting data during weekly progress meetings.
• Ensure test results' availability, including steel mill certificates and logs for all tests per the approved testing matrix.
• Verify daily maintenance of concrete pour cards and distribute copies to the storekeeper and cost control teams.
• Support health, safety, and environment (HSE) initiatives, participate in safety awareness, and contribute to incident reporting aligned with company and IMS policies.

Qualifications & Skills

• Proven knowledge of standards, specifications, and quality systems such as ISO 9001, QCS, SMACNA, ASHRAE, and NFPA.
• Technical experience managing various QC challenges and familiarity with local employment laws and regulations.
• Comprehensive understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) or Integrated Management Systems (IMS).
• ERP proficiency preferred, especially SAP functional skills.
• Professional degree with MMUP Engineer Registration (UPDA), Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001 or equivalent), or ASQC certification (CQM/CQE).
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
