Role Overview

We are looking for a Mechanical Inspector to join our Release Systems & Antennas division located in Brighton, UK. This division specializes in aerospace and produces sophisticated carriage and release systems used globally on major fighter platforms such as the F-35, Gripen, and Typhoon. The Brighton facility, offering 48,500 square feet of manufacturing space, plays a key role in design, manufacture, and testing. Note that the Brighton site will relocate by 2027 to a nearby town within a 15-minute drive.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct precision inspections of components produced in-house, from subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Perform initial inspections on manufactured parts and assemblies, including First Article Inspection (FAI) for both single-level and multi-level assemblies.
• Maintain and update all paperwork related to inspection protocols.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers as needed.
• Perform source inspections at supplier locations (Vendor Assisted Surveillance - VAS).
• Carry out patrol inspections across manufacturing areas.
• Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and dimensional inspection reports as necessary.
• Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Design, and Production Control teams to support production processes.
• Provide calibration support including assisting the Calibration Technician, managing weekly recall lists, processing overdue equipment, handling mechanical and electrical gauge calibration, obtaining quotations, arranging for both in-house and outsourced equipment calibrations, issuing gauges to production, and maintaining the Gauge Tool Management (GTM) database and Supply Point System (SPS).

Required Experience & Skills

• At least 3 years’ experience in inspection, machine shop, or calibration environments.
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments and mechanical inspection techniques.
• Good knowledge of calibration procedures.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2001 standards and preferably AS9100 Rev D.
• Comfortable using PC software including Word, Excel, and databases.
• Mechanical manufacturing experience and ability to interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with calibration processes.
• Operation and programming skills for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
• Familiarity with Q-Pulse software for First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
• Exposure to tensile testing for product quality.
• Experience with Universal Linear Measurement (ULM) equipment such as thread, plug, and ring gauges.

Additional Information

• Due to the classified nature of the work, candidates typically must be UK nationals eligible for UK government security clearance.
