Quality Inspector

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Quality Inspector with expertise in Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and metrology to join a precision engineering company located in Stockport. This role involves hands-on work collaborating closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure that manufactured products meet all specifications and adhere to ISO 9001 standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of incoming, in-process, and finished products.
• Examine products thoroughly against engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerance limits.
• Operate and program CMM equipment for precise dimensional measurements.
• Utilize various metrology instruments such as micrometres, vernier calipers, and bore gauges.
• Create detailed inspection reports and maintain flawless quality documentation including First Article Inspection (FAI) paperwork.
• Ensure all measuring tools and equipment are calibrated and traceable for accuracy.
• Identify and segregate non-conforming products; raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) accordingly.
• Perform first-off inspections and assist production teams with quality-related challenges.
• Collaborate with Production and Engineering to solve dimensional discrepancies and drawing interpretation issues.
• Contribute to quality performance metrics, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement projects.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Quality Inspector in a manufacturing or precision engineering setting.
• Proficient in operating and programming CMM machinery.
• Well-versed in conventional metrology techniques and dimensional inspection.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience working with inspection instruments such as micrometres, verniers, bore gauges, and CMMs.
• Skilled in preparing inspection documentation and maintaining quality records.
• Knowledgeable about ISO 9001 quality management standards.
• Experience handling non-conforming products with ability to issue NCRs.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Team-oriented with the ability to communicate effectively across Production, Engineering, and Quality Departments.
• Proactive and confident in raising concerns when quality criteria are not fulfilled.

Remuneration and Benefits

• Annual salary ranging from £39,500 to £41,500, depending on experience.
• Standard working hours: 08:00 to 17:00, Monday through Friday.
• 25 days paid annual leave plus bank holidays.
