Computer Numerical Control Machinist

About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist to join a respected precision engineering manufacturer located in Manchester. Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 3, 4, and 5-axis vertical milling CNC machines to fabricate precision components.
• Ensure production of high-quality parts by maintaining accuracy throughout manufacturing runs.
• Prepare necessary tooling, fixtures, and job-related documentation prior to production.
• Perform regular maintenance tasks on machinery to ensure proper operation.
• Operate multiple machines when required to meet production demands.
• Inspect finished components using CNC and manual coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify quality.
• Confirm all produced parts meet specifications on engineering drawings and comply with quality standards.
• Detect any production or engineering issues promptly and liaise with Team Leaders, Production Planning, and Engineering teams.
• Adhere strictly to Health & Safety guidelines and actively participate in 5S and other continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

• Completion of a Time Served Engineering Apprenticeship or possession of an equivalent engineering background.
• Minimum two years of experience setting and running 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC milling machines.
• Strong familiarity with vertical machining centers and associated setup.
• Competency in interpreting engineering drawings and machining precision parts.
• Sound understanding of machining techniques and engineering best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Fanuc or Mazak CNC control systems.
• Knowledgeable in using CMM inspection equipment.
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and adherence to quality management systems.
