Lead Structural Engineer – Power & Digital

Position Overview

UCC Holding invites applications for the role of Lead Structural Engineer, focusing on Power and Digital Infrastructure EPC projects based in Qatar. This senior role demands commanding expertise in structural engineering, design oversight, technical reviews, construction assistance, and end-to-end engineering delivery for large-scale EPC projects.

Experience and Expertise Required

• At least 12 to 15 years of professional experience in structural or civil engineering.
• Proven background in EPC, EPIC, turnkey, or industrial infrastructure projects, especially in power sectors.
• Deep knowledge of reinforced concrete, structural steel, and foundation engineering.
• Experience designing foundations and support systems for equipment such as transformers, generators, electrical buildings, substations, and other utilities.
• Capability to critically assess structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Understanding of various structural load factors including wind, seismic, dynamic, and equipment loads.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, or their equivalents.
• Adept at coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines like mechanical, electrical, civil, architectural, and geotechnical engineering.
• Experience with power, industrial, infrastructure, or digital infrastructure/data center projects is beneficial.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead all structural engineering activities from conceptual design (FEED) to detailed engineering, and through construction to project handover.
• Develop and critically review structural calculations, design criteria, drawings, and specifications.
• Design and evaluate reinforced concrete and steel structures, foundations, equipment supports, and utility-related structures.
• Review and approve foundations for equipment such as transformers, generators, and switchgear.
• Collaborate effectively with equipment vendors and multidisciplinary project teams to ensure structural requirements are met.
• Evaluate technical documentation including vendor submissions, shop drawings, RFIs, and address technical queries.
• Support processes related to material requisitions and technical bid evaluations on structural components.
• Offer technical guidance to construction teams and troubleshoot site-related structural challenges.
• Participate in reviews concerning design feasibility, constructability, and value engineering.
• Ensure all structural designs adhere to project specifications, international codes, quality standards, and health and safety regulations.
• Lead, coach, and develop structural engineering staff and designers within the team.

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Comprehensive expertise in structural steel, reinforced concrete, foundation design, and equipment support systems.
• Strong command over software tools such as STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, or their alternatives.
• In-depth understanding of relevant international structural codes and standards.
• Excellent leadership qualities combined with collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.
