Role Overview
The Project Control Specialist I will play an integral role in managing financial and project control activities for PMC portfolio projects. Key duties involve maintaining accurate project data, supporting budget monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting to ensure transparency and reliable decision-making throughout project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and manage the Work Breakdown Structure aligned with the approved budget, detailing hours, costs, task and cost codes, and associated cost sheets.
- Compile and update Project Control Statements and Financial Control Statements to reflect current project status.
- Calculate Estimate to Complete and revise Estimate at Completion forecasts based on manpower plans, scope approvals, and anticipated project needs.
- Evaluate variances by comparing actual costs, forecasts, and EAC against the approved budget.
- Maintain task codes and billing rates in ERP systems, primarily Oracle.
- Perform systematic audits to affirm the accuracy of revenue, costs, and gross margins recorded.
- Liaise with finance, HR, and other departments to address discrepancies affecting financial reporting, such as timecard or billing issues.
- Prepare and upload resource deployment plans into project control platforms.
- Generate Manpower Mobilization Requests and supporting documentation for client approvals.
- Draft invoices and follow up with clients to secure timely approvals and payments.
- Assist with month-end processes including accruals, revenue recognition, cost validation, and fiscal coordination.
- Extract and analyze data through Ecosys and similar project control tools to facilitate accurate forecasting and reporting.
- Develop dashboards and performance reports using MS Power BI, Excel, and other tools to aid leadership decisions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Finance, Cost Management, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in project controls, financial reporting, or commercial support within engineering consultancy, PMC, oil & gas, or infrastructure sectors.
Technical Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of project controls including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
- Practical experience using ERP systems, with a preference for Oracle platforms.
- Proficiency in MS Excel for data handling and financial reports.
- Ability to create interactive visual reports and dashboards in MS Power BI.
Soft Skills and Competencies
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial data and project budget management.
- Strong collaboration skills, capable of working effectively across multiple departments while taking responsibility for individual deliverables.
