Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Statistical Analyst | Forecasting Specialist to interpret complex datasets into actionable insights by utilizing statistical models and predictive analytics. This pivotal role supports strategic business planning, operational decisions, and long-term performance forecasting by applying rigorous data analysis and forecasting methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, organize, verify, and analyze extensive datasets from diverse business and operational sources.
- Conduct statistical investigations to uncover trends, patterns, relationships, and critical data shifts.
- Create models to forecast future demand, sales, revenue, costs, capacity, and overall business outcomes.
- Assess historical information to identify seasonal trends, cycles, and data irregularities.
- Implement time-series forecasting techniques and continuously monitor their predictive accuracy.
- Select and apply fitting statistical methods based on specific business questions and data properties.
- Execute regression, correlation analysis, hypothesis testing, and additional statistical procedures.
- Build predictive models supporting effective business planning and decision-making efforts.
- Measure forecasting accuracy through suitable statistical and business performance indicators.
- Investigate forecast deviations by analyzing their underlying causes.
- Develop scenario-based simulations to evaluate potential future scenarios under varied assumptions.
- Translate statistical outcomes into clear, practical business recommendations.
- Compile forecasting summaries, reports, dashboards, and presentations for management review.
- Assist in demand, inventory, financial, workforce, and operational forecasting activities.
- Analyze market, customer, sales, operational, and financial data to strengthen forecasting initiatives.
- Detect and address data quality issues collaborating with relevant teams to enhance data accuracy.
- Automate analytical workflows to improve forecasting efficiency and consistency.
- Partner with Data Engineering and IT to upgrade data pipelines, reporting frameworks, and analytical infrastructure.
- Define forecasting goals, assumptions, timelines, and outputs in cooperation with business stakeholders.
- Use sensitivity analyses to understand the impact of variable changes on forecasts.
- Monitor external business drivers like market trends, customer behavior, economic shifts, and industry developments.
- Compare forecasts with actual outcomes and conduct variance analysis.
- Refine forecasting models based on new data and evolving business conditions.
- Develop and maintain standardized forecasting methodologies and documentation.
- Perform ad-hoc statistical assessments to support management and strategic projects.
- Validate statistical model assumptions and their significance prior to sharing findings.
- Identify enhancements to forecasting accuracy leveraging additional data sources and advanced analytics approaches.
- Support scenario and long-term strategic forecasting undertakings.
- Explain complex statistical and forecasting concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Stay informed on advancements in statistical modeling, forecasting methods, machine learning, and analytical technologies.
Candidate Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, Finance, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive analytics, or business intelligence.
- Deep understanding of statistical methods, probability, data analysis, and quantitative modeling.
- Proven ability to develop and validate forecasting and predictive models.
- Expertise in time-series analysis and forecasting methodologies.
- Experience with regression, hypothesis testing, correlation, and statistical inference techniques.
- Proficiency in Excel, including advanced analytical functions and model-building.
- Competency in statistical or programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, SAS, or SPSS.
- Familiarity with data visualization platforms like Power BI or Tableau is beneficial.
- Capability to work comfortably with large, intricate datasets including cleaning and data preparation.
- Understanding of forecast metrics and evaluation standards.
- Experience conducting scenario, sensitivity, and variance analyses.
- Awareness of business drivers influencing forecasts.
- Excellent analytical reasoning and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex results into actionable business insights.
- Strong presentation skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience partnering with Finance, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, or Marketing teams is a plus.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple analytical assignments and deadlines.
- Exposure to machine learning or advanced predictive analytics techniques is advantageous.
- Relevant certifications in statistics, analytics, forecasting, or business intelligence are preferred.
