Amid ongoing energy transitions in Australia and New Zealand, we are seeking a Lead/Principal Power Systems Engineer to enhance our expanding power team. This pivotal technical leadership position supports key clients in utility, transmission, renewable energy, industrial, and energy transition sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and provide expert oversight on complex power system analyses such as load flow, fault level, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, harmonic, protection, and network performance evaluations.
• Manage cross-disciplinary project teams to ensure high-quality technical deliveries, client satisfaction, and adherence to budget and schedule requirements.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for transmission, distribution, and generation projects across the Australian and New Zealand regions.
• Oversee grid connection methodologies, regulatory registrations, and compliance evaluations for renewable generation, battery energy storage systems, industrial entities, and emergent energy technologies.
• Build trusted client partnerships, advising on strategic decisions related to networks, generation, and energy transition initiatives.
• Conduct technical review, governance, and quality assurance of power system models, studies, and reports developed by project teams.
• Mentor and develop junior to intermediate engineers, fostering technical skill enhancement and team capability growth.
• Engage in business development efforts including proposal creation, tender processes, client engagement, and identifying new projects.
• Contribute to enhancing Worley’s power system competencies, technical standards, and best practices both locally and globally.
• Represent the company in industry forums, technical committees, and client workshops as a recognized expert.

Candidate Profile

• Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
• Extensive professional experience in power systems engineering within utilities, consulting, renewable energy, transmission, or heavy industry sectors.
• Proven leadership in managing technical teams and delivering complex power system projects from initial concept through to commissioning.
• Advanced proficiency in power system analysis and simulation tools like DigSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E, PSCAD, and similar platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of the Australian and New Zealand power systems, including network planning, operation, and grid connection requirements.
• Strong familiarity with pertinent market, regulatory, and technical frameworks such as NEM, AEMO, Transpower, Electricity Distribution Businesses, and relevant grid codes and standards.
• Effective communication and engagement skills with clients, regulators, utilities, and stakeholders at technical and commercial levels.
• Adept at mentoring, with a commitment to cultivating high-performing teams.
• Commercially savvy with experience contributing to proposals, business development, and client relationship management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to convey complex technical topics to varied audiences.
