Key Responsibilities

• Lead and provide assurance throughout all engineering project stages including concept, FEED, detailed design, and execution.
• Drive adherence to company and international HSE standards, integrating safety thoroughly into engineering designs and operational philosophies.
• Conduct hazard identification and risk assessment analyses such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL; formulate safety philosophies and engineering remedies; contribute to quantitative risk assessments, fire and explosion studies, and functional safety lifecycle activities.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and clients to maintain compliance with regulations, achieve risk minimization to ALARP levels, and meet safety performance standards.
• Serve as a technical authority, mentoring junior engineers, reviewing project deliverables, facilitating audits and safety cases, and promoting continuous enhancements in HSE practices.

Quality Assurance and Safety

• Operate within established Quality Assurance system provisions and guidelines.
• Maintain personal safety and adhere strictly to occupational health and safety protocols.
• Advocate for health, safety, and environmental awareness within the workplace.

Educational Qualifications and Accreditations

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process, or Safety Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Master’s degree in Safety Engineering, Process Safety, Risk Engineering or related disciplines is highly preferred.
• Professional registration such as Chartered Engineer status (e.g., CEng, PE) is highly desirable.
• Relevant certifications are preferred including NEBOSH Diploma (International), TÜV Functional Safety Engineer (IEC 61508 / 61511), memberships in IChemE, IMechE, IOSH, or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent.

Industry Experience and Technical Expertise

• Extensive background in HSE and Process Safety in Oil & Gas sectors including upstream, midstream, downstream, petrochemicals, and LNG.
• Demonstrated experience in engineering design or EPC environments with leadership in major capital projects such as FEED, EPC, and brownfield modifications.
• Experience collaborating with international clients, regulatory authorities, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Prior experience as Lead or Principal HSE Engineer on Projects.
• Advanced knowledge in Process Safety Management systems compliant with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 and CCPS RBPS.
• Proficiency in hazard and risk assessment techniques including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, Bowtie, and QRA.
• Competence in consequence and risk modeling such as vapor cloud explosion, dispersion, and fire radiation with expertise in PHAST/Safeti software.
• Expertise in Functional Safety & Instrumented Protection Systems following IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 lifecycle standards.
• Experience in Fire and Explosion Engineering including Passive and Active Fire Protection (PFP/AFP), FERA, and EERA.
• Understanding of Loss Prevention philosophies and safety design principles.
