Principal Engineer - Stormwater Engineering

About the Role

Join WSP as a Principal Engineer specializing in stormwater engineering, contributing to transformative infrastructure projects throughout Auckland and across New Zealand. This role involves leading multidisciplinary projects with a focus on delivering practical and buildable designs in stormwater infrastructure, including pipe networks, culverts, water quality solutions, ponds, wetlands, and stream restoration initiatives. You will collaborate closely with various disciplines and stakeholders to ensure project success and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Secure, oversee, and deliver complex multidisciplinary stormwater projects.
• Serve as technical leader producing detailed designs, drawings, specifications, and technical reports related to stormwater engineering.
• Ensure practical and effective build solutions in stormwater infrastructure design.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines and stakeholders to facilitate project delivery and exceed client expectations.
• Lead design efforts on transformational Blue-Green network projects, major transportation infrastructure, and community-enhancing stormwater works.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Be a qualified Engineer, preferably holding a Bachelor of Engineering degree.
• Possess Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) registration or an equivalent professional credential.
• Hold a minimum of 10 years of professional experience designing stormwater infrastructure.
• Have a background in consulting, which will be beneficial for this role.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Civil 3D and/or 12D design software and other related engineering tools.
• Experience or training in project management is considered advantageous.
• Exhibit creativity, solution-oriented thinking, and effectiveness in collaboration and relationship building.
• Maintain a valid and clean driver's license.
