Job description
Role Overview
Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineers are crucial in shaping the manufacturing industrialization processes specifically for UAV systems. Their expertise guarantees efficient, high-quality UAV production while adhering to safety norms and regulatory standards. Collaboration with multiple teams including Design Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Programs, and Facilities is essential to enhance manufacturing workflows and foster continuous improvements.
Process Philosophy
The role emphasizes a process-driven mindset over features, ensuring a seamless workflow from initial estimation through to finished product delivery. Each phase of the manufacturing process must have clearly defined inputs, outputs, quality standards, and discernible value additions. Once the end-to-end process framework is established, choices regarding appropriate technologies and methods focus on their effectiveness and impact rather than novelty.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in new product development core teams, influencing product designs for ease of manufacturability (Concurrent Engineering / Design for Manufacturability).
- Take an active role in estimating non-recurring expenses such as Engineering labor, Tool design, Manufacturing processes, and capacity planning for facilities, equipment, tooling, and materials.
- Lead or contribute within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) coordinating engineers, technicians, and other specialists to design, develop, and improve manufacturing procedures for products.
- Engage in supplier qualification and provide support on manufacturing processes and methods necessary for producing UAV components.
- Collaborate with suppliers ensuring timely availability of materials, parts, and tools essential for UAV manufacturing.
