Linux & Container Platform Engineer

Role Overview

DXC Technology is searching for an experienced Linux & Container Platform Engineer based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This position involves managing critical infrastructure comprising physical, virtual, and hybrid systems, with a prime focus on Linux system administration and container platform operations. The main goals include ensuring platform availability, robust security, efficient automation, and optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and resolve issues related to Linux systems deployed in physical and virtual settings.
• Handle operating system patch management, system upgrades, performance optimization, and capacity planning.
• Employ central management solutions like Red Hat Satellite or SUSE Manager for consistent configuration and patch application.
• Create automation scripts for routine tasks using Ansible, Puppet, or equivalent technologies.
• Support virtualization environments such as VMware and KVM platforms.
• Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot container workloads utilizing Docker or Podman, along with orchestration tools like Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• Manage Helm charts, ingress controllers, storage persistence, secrets management, certificates, and access control mechanisms.
• Facilitate container image build pipelines, CI/CD integration, and automate environments.
• Monitor platform status and metrics using Prometheus and Grafana tools.
• Conduct backup and restoration processes and maintain overall operational preparedness.
• Implement OS and container security measures, including role-based access control and system hardening protocols.
• Support logging, auditing operations, and integrate with security monitoring solutions.
• Investigate system incidents, resolve recurrent problems, and document operational procedures thoroughly.

Qualifications & Experience

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent education and practical experience.
• More than 7 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure roles, including at least 1 year focused on Linux and container platform responsibilities.
• Expertise in Linux administration with capabilities in troubleshooting, patching, and tuning system performance.
• Practical experience working with container technologies and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• Proficiency in automation tools like Ansible and Puppet.
• Detailed understanding of container networking, persistent storage solutions, secrets management, and access controls.
• Experience supporting virtualized and hybrid infrastructures.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with Red Hat Satellite or SUSE Manager for Linux system management.
• Knowledge of Helm, GitOps workflows, or Argo CD for application deployment.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Understanding of security hardening practices, including CIS benchmarks, OS auditing, log forwarding, and SIEM integrations.
• Linux, Kubernetes, and container-related certifications are advantageous.
