About the Company and Location
Join Mount Isa Mines, part of Glencore Australia's QLD Metallurgical Operations, Surface Operations, Electrical & HV Distribution team in Mount Isa, Queensland. Role Overview
The HV Linesperson will report directly to the Supervisor HV and will be responsible for constructing, maintaining, and testing overhead power lines. Additionally, the role includes upkeep and repair of the site’s street-lighting system. The position follows a residential roster of seven days on followed by seven days off, working exclusively day shifts.
Primary Responsibilities
- Construct and maintain overhead power lines ranging from 415 volts to 132 kilovolts.
- Install, service, and repair the site’s street-lighting infrastructure.
- Perform all testing related to overhead line construction and ongoing maintenance.
- Manage inventory and spare parts necessary for overhead line upkeep.
- Maintain accurate statutory documentation for all installation and maintenance activities.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, environmental, and site regulations.
- Operate effectively both independently and in team settings.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of an Electrical Linesperson trade qualification and the capability to acquire a Queensland electrical license.
- Hold a current HR manual driver’s license.
- Vehicle-loading crane ticket and Elevated Work Platform (EWP) certification.
- Current bucket-truck operating license and, where applicable, a lift/borer qualification.
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Knowledge and experience with power distribution systems.
- Experience in constructing and maintaining overhead lines from low voltage (240/415 V) to high voltage (132 kV).
- Familiarity with SAP software.
- Understanding of relevant Australian, industry, and site standards.
- Experience keeping statutory records compliant.
- Work history in mining or heavy industrial environments.
