Job Overview
The Houseperson plays a vital role in delivering outstanding guest service through courteous and professional interactions, adhering strictly to the company's hospitality standards. This role ensures that public areas are maintained with high cleanliness standards, organizes supplies efficiently, supports room attendants, and assists the maintenance team with minor repairs and work orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of public spaces, hotel grounds, and parking areas following brand expectations.
- Support guests by assisting with baggage handling and responding promptly to requests such as delivering amenities.
- Execute minor troubleshooting and maintenance tasks for hotel equipment.
- Prepare meeting rooms when necessary.
- Adhere to emergency procedures and safety protocols.
- Assist housekeeping, laundry, or maintenance departments as required and within capability.
Prerequisites and Requirements
- Trustworthy character with honesty is essential due to access to guestrooms and property; must pass security clearances.
- Experience in related fields such as lodging, housing, hospitals, or care facilities is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Physical capabilities include standing for extended periods, lifting up to 30 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 60 pounds, bending, reaching, and clear communication abilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proper handling and sanitation of linens and supplies with cost awareness.
- Management of safety and security measures, promptly addressing hazards.
- Following detailed training checklists and company procedures systematically.
- Capability to assist guests professionally while safeguarding their privacy.
- Perform basic maintenance repairs, such as fixing leaking faucets or running toilets.
- Ability to clean guestrooms according to brand standards and training material.
- Work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Multitask efficiently while maintaining a service-focused attitude.
- Compose professional communication with guests and colleagues.
Working Environment and Conditions
- This is an on-site position requiring physical presence at the hotel, excluding remote work opportunities.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking while maintaining a polished professional appearance.
- Potential exposure to varying outdoor weather conditions including heat or cold.
- Work schedule may include any shift, nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
