General Mechanic

Position Overview

This role centers on performing routine maintenance tasks on property vehicles such as engineering trucks, shuttle vans, and electric carts. Responsibilities include checking oils and fluids, monitoring tire pressure and wear, charging batteries, and replacing spark plugs to ensure smooth operations. The incumbent will also conduct preventive upkeep of tools and equipment through cleaning and lubrication to maintain optimal condition.

Inventory and Documentation

Managing and maintaining a proper inventory of maintenance parts and supplies is a key task, including requisitioning items when necessary. The role requires maintaining daily logs detailing operation statuses, maintenance actions, safety activities, test results, instrument readings, and notes on equipment malfunctions and repairs.

Safety and Compliance

Adherence to all company safety and security policies is mandatory. The employee must promptly report issues such as maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries and complete all required safety training and certifications. Proper storage of flammable materials is also essential.

Workplace Conduct and Team Interaction

Maintaining a clean and professional personal appearance in uniform is expected, along with upholding confidentiality of proprietary information and safeguarding company assets. Communication should be clear and professional, including verbal interactions and written documentation. The individual will answer telephone calls with appropriate etiquette and help foster positive relationships within the team to support shared objectives. Listening effectively and responding thoughtfully to concerns of colleagues is a vital component of the workplace environment.

Physical Requirements

The role involves manual tasks such as moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and positioning items weighing up to 50 pounds independently. It also requires fine motor skills for handling tools and equipment of varied sizes and weights, including visual inspections for defects and performing tasks involving bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, reaching overhead, and below the knees.

Employees may be required to undertake reasonable tasks assigned by supervisors beyond the outlined responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant job experience.
• No supervisory responsibilities involved.
