Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a collaborative and highly organized Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing precise project cost estimates by analyzing specifications and contractual documents to ensure alignment with cost efficiency, scheduling, and pricing objectives. Your contributions will support the building of stronger, more resilient communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze proposal documents, drawings, and participate in pre-bid meetings to define the work scope and estimate contents.
- Incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity analyses into unit and labor hour estimations.
- Provide technical insights about project and contract risks to support the lead estimator in finalizing bid prices.
- Calculate detailed quantity takeoffs for various disciplines based on engineering drawings and scope of work.
- Track client addenda and communicate changes to the estimating team throughout the bidding process.
- Engage in design review to evaluate and recommend cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with the estimating team to conduct project handoff meetings between pursuit and project management teams.
- Source and suggest vendors and subcontractors that align with cost and project goals.
Candidate Profile
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is required.
- Preferably 7 or more years of experience in construction, with a focus on estimating or cost control.
- Proficient knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software.
- Strong technical writing capabilities.
- Developing understanding of alternative construction delivery models.
