Job description
Job Overview
Join our team as an Estimator where your collaborative approach and ability to prioritize effectively are vital. You will contribute significantly by preparing project cost estimates through detailed analysis of specifications and contract plans, ensuring materials and methods align with project goals for cost, schedule, and pursuit.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze proposal documents including specifications and drawings, and participate in pre-bid meetings to ascertain the scope of work and essential elements of the estimate.
- Incorporate historical data such as purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity reports to develop unit and labor hour estimates.
- Contribute technical insights concerning project and contract risks to the lead estimator and review the final estimates for alignment with project timelines and budgets.
- Generate detailed discipline-specific estimates by quantifying material requirements based on engineering drawings.
- Track client addendums, updating the estimating team on any project modifications during the estimating phase.
- Support design review efforts by evaluating options and recommending cost-effective, high-quality material and engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with the estimating team to facilitate project hand-off meetings between the pursuit and project management teams.
- Identify and suggest appropriate vendors and subcontractors for designated tasks to meet financial and project delivery targets.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.
- At least three years of relevant experience in construction estimation or cost management preferred.
- Familiarity with HCSS HeavyBid Estimating Software.
- Strong skills in technical writing.
- Developing understanding of alternative construction delivery approaches.
