Overview
Omega Red Group, the UK’s leading provider in earthing, lightning protection, and height safety solutions, is searching for a dedicated Lightning Protection Estimator to join its Edinburgh team on a full-time permanent basis. The company delivers comprehensive services including survey, design, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair for lightning protection and related systems, focused on safeguarding individuals, properties, and electrical systems from lightning and surge damage.
Key Duties
- Prepare competitive and precise quotations to meet monthly sales and tender objectives.
- Engage in client consultations, attend tender presentations, and visit construction sites to gather detailed project insights while advocating Omega Red’s solutions.
- Design and cost projects accurately to fit client specifications and comply with industry standards.
- Ensure pricing remains competitive and profitable without compromising quality.
- Build and sustain strong client relationships to encourage repeat projects and uncover new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with Estimating Leads and Delivery Teams to ensure seamless project progression from tender to completion.
- Stay informed on market trends, industry developments, and competitor actions to shape pricing and growth strategies effectively.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all sales activities, tenders, client communications, and quotations within company systems and CRM software.
- Proactively contribute to business growth through continuous client engagement and opportunity spotting.
Required Skills and Experience
- Prior exposure to the construction sector, particularly within specialized contracting roles.
- Sound knowledge of tender processes, bid formulation, and effective pricing methods.
- Strong interpersonal skills to cultivate credibility and lasting client partnerships.
- Adept at interpreting client needs and producing clear, commercially sensible tender documentation.
- A keen commercial sense with an understanding of contract obligations and associated risks.
- Excellent communication, persuasion, and negotiation capabilities.
- Highly organised with the ability to juggle multiple tender bids and manage time efficiently.
- Self-driven, motivated, and eager to contribute to company growth initiatives.
- Capable of maintaining existing client relationships while developing further business prospects.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience specifically in the lightning protection sector is advantageous.
- Familiarity with BS EN 62305 standards for lightning protection.
- Background in estimating specialized electrical, earthing, lightning, or related construction jobs.
Qualifications
- Must have a full UK driving licence.
