Estimating Manager

About the Role

Fletcher Construction invites applications for the position of Estimating Manager within our Major Projects team based in Auckland. With the business expanding under new ownership by VINCI, especially in major civil infrastructure ventures, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimating Manager or Senior Civil Estimator looking to advance their career. The successful candidate will lead the estimating activities on significant civil infrastructure tenders, shaping outcomes through expertise and market knowledge unique to New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire process of developing cost estimates for major civil infrastructure bids, starting from foundational principles through to final submission.
• Form and guide multidisciplinary bid teams from the New Business group, ensuring rigorous quality and standards are met.
• Manage compilation and oversight of the top financial documentation, coordinating contributions from estimators, engineers, designers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Lead comprehensive tender pricing audits involving meticulous line-item estimate reviews.
• Coordinate Independent Estimator reconciliation operations.
• Champion ongoing enhancements to estimating procedures, systems, and tendering benchmarks throughout the company.
• Mentor and develop the estimating team to build capacity in line with the growing bid workload.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a relevant tertiary qualification.
• Have a minimum of ten years experience in estimating within the civil infrastructure sector.
• Hold at least five years’ experience operating in the New Zealand market, including strong relationships with local suppliers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
• Bring a minimum of five years as a senior or lead estimator managing large civil infrastructure tenders, demonstrating the ability to produce competitive and comprehensive estimates.
• Display expert command of Candy estimating software.
• Exhibit keen commercial acumen with a firm grasp of contract risks, tender requirements, and pricing strategies.
• Show strong leadership capabilities, able to set clear direction, engage teams, and uphold high standards.
