Job description
Role Overview
Fletcher Construction seeks an experienced Foreperson to lead the mechanical stabilization earth (MSE), reinforced earth (RE), and retaining walls construction on the Te Awa Kairangi transport and revitalization project in Wellington. This hands-on leadership position involves managing crews, subcontractors, and daily site operations to ensure safety, quality, and productivity standards are upheld.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise daily building activities for MSE, RE, and retaining wall structures.
- Coordinate labour, equipment, and subcontractors to align with project timelines.
- Monitor progress, troubleshoot challenges, and maintain productivity goals.
- Champion safety practices and comply with environmental regulations on site.
- Perform quality inspections and maintain compliance documentation per specifications.
- Keep accurate records of labour, plant usage, materials, and site activities daily.
Candidate Requirements
- Trade qualification in construction, civil infrastructure, or a related field.
- Valid full New Zealand Driver Licence.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in construction, including supervisory or foreperson roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in delivering concrete, timber, RE, MSE, and retaining wall projects.
- Strong leadership skills to manage diverse teams and subcontractors effectively.
- Exceptional planning, communication, organizational skills, with attention to detail and a focus on quality.

The Te Awa Kairangi Alliance is enhancing transport, pedestrian, cycling, and flood protection infrastructure at the SH2 Melling interchange and rail station as part of a broader urban revitalization effort.
