Job description

Role Overview

Fletcher Construction invites experienced Storepersons to contribute to the transformative Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi project in Lower Hutt. This pivotal role involves managing site store and yard activities to ensure timely and accurate handling of materials, equipment, and deliveries.

Key Duties

  • Accept, inspect, and document incoming shipments to ensure completeness and condition.
  • Oversee storage, allocation, and tracking of materials, tools, plant, and rented equipment.
  • Maintain precise inventory records and perform regular stock audits.
  • Manage loading and unloading of trucks, prepare shipments, and assist with daily yard operations.
  • Operate forklifts and relevant machinery with safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure store, yard, and laydown areas are tidy, organised, and adhere to health and safety standards.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess a valid Full Class 1 driver's license with WTR endorsement plus current forklift certification.
  • Have a minimum of five years' experience in roles such as construction storeperson, yardperson, logistics, or materials management.
  • Demonstrated forklift operating expertise, especially handling large or oversized items.
  • Strong organisational abilities to forecast needs and juggle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Competent with computers, numeracy, and detail-oriented in inventory and documentation management.
  • Practical, cooperative attitude with confidence to foster productive relationships across site teams and suppliers.

Project Context

The Te Awa Kairangi Alliance is undertaking upgrades to the SH2 Melling interchange and rail station to enhance transport, walking, and cycling, integrated into a broader flood protection and city revitalisation initiative. Partners include AECOM, NZTA, Taranaki Whānui, and Ngāti Toa Rangatira in collaboration with Fletcher Construction.
