Role Overview

We are looking for an accomplished Environmental Engineer to work on secondment with a government client in Doha, Qatar. The role demands providing expert environmental guidance across projects including beautification, landscaping, public realm, and developmental activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Offer environmental technical support and advice for beautification, landscaping, public space, and development initiatives.
• Prepare, review, and manage environmental documentation such as reports, policies, Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP), Environmental Management Plans (EMP), and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
• Conduct routine site visits to ensure implementation adherence to environmental plans, legislation, and ISO 14001 standards.
• Ensure alignment with environmental laws, permits, policies, and standards like ISO 14001.
• Evaluate environmental submissions from consultants and contractors; collaborate with Quality & Safety Department for approvals.
• Monitor and report key environmental performance indicators, including waste management and recycling efficiency.
• Identify risks, non-compliance, and improvement opportunities; recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate with stakeholders such as consultants, contractors, designers, Ministry of Environment, and Quality & Safety teams on environmental compliance matters.
• Support continuous enhancement of environmental management systems and policies across programs.
• Provide technical insights in meetings, document lessons learned, and promote improved environmental performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or related discipline from a recognized university listed in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).
• Over 10 years of professional experience post-academic qualification.
• Minimum 5 years in environmental engineering or management related to large-scale beautification, landscaping, building, infrastructure, or development projects.
• Proven track record in developing, implementing, and overseeing environmental standards and management systems compliant with ISO 14001.
• Additional expertise or background in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), particularly in construction, landscaping, or major development projects is highly advantageous.
• Certified ISO 14001 Lead Auditor.
• Strong skills in environmental compliance, documentation review, site monitoring, environmental reporting, and environmental impact assessment execution.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
