Job Overview

As a Design Engineering Architect located in Cork, you will be a key member of the experienced Controller IP Team spanning Europe, the US, and India within the Cadence Silicon Solutions Group (SSG). This group creates advanced Intellectual Property (IP) for multiple high-tech markets. The IP solutions empower customers to streamline IP-to-SoC development, focus on their product uniqueness, and minimize time to market.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for complex IP projects such as UCIe, Ethernet, HBM, and PCIe.
• Work collaboratively with system architects and product managers to establish architecture and specifications following standards like UCIe, factoring in data rate, power efficiency, and industry compatibility.
• Lead hands-on RTL development activities from defining micro-architecture through IP sign-off for general distribution.
• Assist in scheduling work plans and milestones for digital development teams.
• Lead cross-functional technical meetings involving analog and software teams.
• Offer support during customer pre-sales and post-sales engagements.
• Improve and sustain processes ensuring efficient product execution, high IP quality, and adoption of best industry practices.
• Participate in Technical Review Meetings and Checklist Reviews aligned with ISO-9001 quality standards.
• Represent Cadence at Standards Body Working Groups such as IEEE, PCI-SIG, JEDEC, and UCIe.
• Act as Cadence’s representative at industry conferences including IEEE and DAC.

Requirements

• A degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, microelectronics, or a related field.
• Between 15 and 20 years of experience in the microelectronics industry.
• Expertise in Verilog/SystemVerilog RTL design is essential.
• Proficiency with front-end design tools including LINT, synthesis, and CDC/RDC analysis is critical.
• In-depth experience with SoC architecture and development.
• Proven technical team leadership skills.
• Strong command of both oral and written English.
• Self-driven with superior planning and interpersonal capabilities as well as the aptitude to convey complex concepts clearly.

Additional Skills (Preferred)

• Familiarity with Metric Driven Verification (MDV) and UVM methodologies.
• Experience working with industry-standard protocols like AXI, CHI-C2C, and CXS.B.
• Knowledge of quality standards including ISO-9001 and ISO-26262 is advantageous.
