Staff Design Verification Engineer

About the Role

Join AMD as a Staff Design Verification Engineer and play a critical role in planning, developing, and executing verification efforts for new and existing microprocessor Intellectual Property (IP) features. Your goal will be to ensure the final design is free of bugs.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with architects, hardware, and firmware engineers to comprehend new features requiring verification.
• Create comprehensive test plans that accommodate the interactions among hardware, firmware, software drivers, and various features.
• Estimate the time allocations for writing new tests and adapting the test environment as necessary.
• Develop both directed and random verification tests.
• Investigate test failures to identify root causes, partnering with RTL and firmware teams to rectify design flaws or test issues.
• Analyze functional and code coverage data, adjusting tests or constraints to achieve required coverage levels.
• Construct an automated regression infrastructure for verifying high-speed microprocessor functionality.
• Develop interface assertions and coordinate with formal verification teams.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proficient with IP-level ASIC verification processes.
• Experience debugging firmware and RTL using simulation tools.
• Worked with C++ testbenches in Linux and Windows environments.
• Knowledge of Verilog, SystemVerilog, C, and C++ programming languages.
• Understanding of CPU pipeline architecture.
• Experience automating workflows in distributed computing environments.
• Familiar with simulation profiling, performance improvements, acceleration, or High-Level Synthesis (HLS) workflows.
• Skilled in SystemVerilog language and scripting languages such as Perl, Ruby, Makefile, and shell scripting.
• Prior exposure to memory subsystems or CPU unit verification is advantageous.
• Leadership or mentorship experience is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years in design verification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
