Role Overview
The Software Engineer II position within Cadence’s Simufact team in Hamburg involves creating advanced graphics-based applications and intelligent development tools for next-generation simulation software. Positioned at the crossroads of engineering physics, algorithms, and AI-driven workflows, the role will significantly influence the quality and functionality of products used by engineers globally. The work environment is agile and internationally collaborative, integrating AI as a foundational aspect of software creation and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop user-friendly and high-performance graphics applications within modern graphical user interface (GUI) frameworks.
- Incorporate AI-based development tools such as code assistants and agent frameworks into standard software development processes.
- Create robust interfaces facilitating seamless interaction among users, engineering workflows, and AI systems.
- Independently design and implement comprehensive software testing and develop tools that automate test assessments.
- Use analytical and model-driven approaches to break down complex technical requirements into structured, testable solutions.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, and QA specialists throughout the software lifecycle from initial requirements to final release.
- Engage in ongoing technical documentation, code reviews, and sharing of knowledge within a global engineering team.
Required Qualifications
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent level of professional experience.
- Between two and five years of professional experience developing production-quality software primarily using C and C++.
- Proven experience integrating AI tools—such as code assistants or data-centric methodologies—into daily development workflows along with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, to effectively engage with a diverse, international team.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript.
- Experience working within agile development frameworks and using version control systems like Git.
- Exposure to simulation software, computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools, or domains involving engineering physics.
- Experience in collaborating within international and multicultural team environments.
